Saturday Selections: Glorious Goodwood Final Day

tregMARCUS Tregoning rarely draws a blank at Glorious Goodwood. He has enjoyed a good record at the meeting with some high-profile victories down the years, including Sir Percy in 2005. Boom And Bust’s excellent third in the Lennox Stakes on Tuesday is the closest he has come to victory so far this week but he has a couple of chances on today’s final day. The trainer likes to run his better two year olds at the meeting and pilfer one of the competitive maidens. Today SNOW TROUBLE looks a likely type in the 4.25. But of more interest could be BOWSERS BOLD in the nursery at 5.00.

This fellow is quietly progressive and has improved with each run. He was a close third over 6f at Windsor last time after racing handily and the extra furlong today looks tailor-made. He looks on a very fair opening mark and 25/1 looks worth a sporting each-way bet.

Elsewhere ELIDOR did this punter a huge favour at Royal Ascot and so cannot be deserted in the 2.40 while HOT SNAP is an intriguing runner in a wonderful renewal of the Group One Nassau Stakes (3.15) and the 7mm of overnight rain will have suited her.

Other fancies today:

J Wonder (Newmarket 2.55): His debut win was not unexpected and he looks to be on an exploitable mark in what is a decent nursery.

Straits of Malacca (Thirsk 3.05): Won well last time and the second has run well since. Looks on a decent mark.

Count Pastoral (Thirsk 4.50): Looks highly progressive and can complete the hat trick.

Wellingrove (8.15 Hamilton): Finally got his head in front last time and could follow up this evening.

Never To Be (6.00 Lingfield): Showed enough promise on his debut to suggest he could go close here.
