FOUR West Ham players went back to school…. Commentary School to be precise with one of horse racing’s best callers Richard Hoiles. The ITV Racing supremo tutored England goalkeeper Joe Hart, French football legend Patrice Evra, midfield veteran Mark Noble and strapping centre-back James Collins in the art of holding the mic and calling home the winners.

With the start of the 2018 Cheltenham Festival just two weeks away, Betway wanted to see if the players have what it takes to make it as a broadcaster. The four tried to be on their best behaviour in the classroom although they did get a little distracted. But who better to keep them focused than Hoiles, who was nominated for Sports Commentator of the Year in the recent British Sports Journalism Awards. He talked them through the golden rules of commentating.

Their task was simple: learn the basics before taking an exam featuring a classic Cheltenham betting moment.
