Top Notch Tonto can scalp Cambridgeshire rivals

tontoby JACK MILNER A SCINTILLATING day of racing at HQ on Saturday and a host of potential stars laying down their credentials to be considered the next big thing in the Royal Lodge and Cheveley Park Stakes respectively. Paul Cole’s BERKSHIRE hacked up in the Chesham at Royal Ascot and should continue to frank what has turned out to be an incredibly strong renewal. In the Cheveley Park, while Lucky Kristale misses out, Lady Cecil’s JOYEUSE can reverse the form with Kiyoshi from The Albany Stakes.

The Cambridgeshire is one of the strongest betting heats of the Flat season and with a bumper 35-runner field, BetVictor is giving punters a chance by paying five places to those betting each way on the proverbial minefield.

The ever-so-shrewd Brian Ellison looks to hold the key with ante-post favourite Top Notch Tonto, who lowered the colours of classy pair Tawhid and Montiridge at Haydock. He runs under a 4lb penalty but is undoubtedly well in. William Haggas has six, Ryan Moore opting to ride Queensbury Rules, but an even more unexposed colt is Seek Again for John Gosden and James Doyle. His 3-y-o 5lb allowance should play a part and he has been crying out for a step up in trip, staying on twice at Kempton over a mile. He looks the one open to the most improvement.
