THIS sports book is a decent read and particularly useful for those of us who like to follow unexposed horses. Jumpers To Follow 2012-2013 focuses on well researched
pen portraits of 40 Leading Prospects,
which are a mixture of established stars, dark horses and those expected to rise through the ranks. Last season’s Leading Prospects included Sprinter Sacre, Simonsig, Cinders and Ashes and Bobs Worth, who all went on to win at the Cheltenham Festival. So the author, whose enthusiasm for NH racing shines through, obviously knows his stuff.
There is an Around The Yards feature zoning in on the equine artillery at the disposal of messrs Nicholls, Henderson, King and Hobbs, while the Across The Sea column highlights some of the most promising Irish prospects.
There are particularly useful ante-post pointers for the Cheltenham Festival and a round-up of the leading purchases at the close season sales.
Jumpers To Follow may lack pictures and could be deemed a little pricey at £9.95, but it does what it says on the tin.
With a foreword by BetVictor’s online PR supremo Charlie McCann, the book certainly helps to get those of us who love national hunt racing in the mood for the winter sport.
