FEW jockeys are as articulate as Richard Hughes, both in print and verbally. So BetVictor have scored a real coup in securing the champion jockey as a regular columnist. Earlier today in his latest post Hughesie highlighted the chance of Sir John Hawkwood, who duly obliged in the first at Chester.
And his latest column also takes a look at his six booked rides at Ascot tomorrow evening when he returns to the saddle after a brief suspension.
His thoughts are illuminating, especially on a Richard Hannon horse whom he considers his best chance of a winner.
Elsewhere on Friday a few horses stand out. JAMMY GUEST was well touted before his Newmarket debut and he ran a promising race. He should go very close in the 2.35 at Lingfield en route to better things.
Likewise TOAST OF THE TOWN also caught the eye on her racecourse debut and wasn’t knocked about. She should step up on that effort in a warm-looking maiden at Ascot (6.30).
PAY FREEZE will love the fast ground at Ascot and if he sees out the 7f could run very well, while there might be more to come from both ARBEEL (4.25 Ch) and MAID A MILLION (5.20 Ling) in their respective races.
