A MARVELLOUS night’s racing takes place at Sandown Park with the Brigadier Gerard and Henry II Stakes. Throw in the National Stakes and Heron Stakes and you have one of the best evening meetings of the year. At York’s Dante meeting I was impressed with the victory of STEVENTON STAR who showed great speed and won a bit cheekily. He should win the National Stakes en route to Royal Ascot.
His jockey Richard Hughes says Steventon Star is his best chance of a winner tonight but he has several other good rides and you can read about what he thinks of them by going to his exclusive BetVictor column.
I fancy MAIN SEQUENCE in the Brigadier Gerard while COLOUR VISION should take all the beating if he is anywhere near his Ascot Gold Cup-winning best in the Henry II.
Keep an eye on PEARL STREET who is among this blog’s 10 to follow. She reappears in the 3.50 at Lingfield in a hot looking maiden and could go well.
I’m also going to take a chance with the quirky but talented mare ADORABLE CHOICE in the 3.40 at Hamilton. If she’s on a going day, she should be hard to peg back while the progressive TOPAMICHI, who just got chinned last time, can go one better at Lingfield.
