MISS SHERIDAN won nicely for this column yesterday and looks to be a filly ahead of the handicapper. However the other three selections were disappointing. Art Collection, who was a huge drifter, never landed a blow and might be worth another go if reverting to the all weather. COMPRISE (5.00 Yarmouth) is first up today. He won as he liked at Southwell the other week and was backing up two highly promising turf runs as a juvenile. He has been given a rating of 74 and I think that could be lenient in what looks like a fairly uncompetitive event. 9/2
Another progressive type is CORONATION DAY (5.50 Brighton) who won three times at three and reappears over 6f under her highest mark yet. However she suggested there was more to come in her final two runs and her trainer James Tate has a 23% strike rate at Brighton. The trip looks on the sharp side but she has a good pilot in Martin Harley. 3/1
ISNTSHESOMETHING (8.10 Wolverhampton) is a mare in decent form and Dougie Costello, who won on her at Chelmsford, is reunited with the five year old who has a decent draw and should go very close. 11/2
KINGSLEY KLARION (8.40 Wolverhampton) could go off at a decent price but he ran better than his finishing position suggests on his seasonal return and has winning form at this track. 8/1
Finally, I was going to put BRACKEN BRAE (6.00 Wolverhampton) in as one of the four but his price will be too short. However he has the huge advantage of Simon Walker in the saddle in the gents’ amateur riders handicap and I will be very surprised if he gets beat.
Prices correct at the time of going to press.
