THE aim of our 10 to follow list is for as many of them as possible to win a race. The first two horses from the list appeared on Saturday and resulted in a winner and a second. WOODLAND ARIA made a winning debut at Wolverhampton and started at 4/1. The fact that William Buick made the effort to get from Newbury to the Midlands track in the evening for the one ride was significant. The filly was making her debut and was tardy leaving the stalls. Buick had to niggle her a few times but she came through in taking style to pick up the leaders. The time was above average and the closing sectional was particularly impressive. Woodland Aria looks a filly with a future.
Earlier Sir Henry Cecil’s KYLLACHY RISE, who was heavily backed, had looked all over the winner a furlong out at Newbury in a hotly-contested 1m maiden but was chinned close home by Cape Peron. He travelled impressively although he had to do the donkey work from the front. It will be interesting to see how he progresses but he looks a shoo-in for an ordinary maiden before going on to better things.
