Friday fancies

faheyI WAS at Pontefract the other week when Paul Hanagan steered BACK LANE to a comfortable victory in what was a decent maiden. He looked to win with a bit in hand and can follow up in the 2yo conditions race at Musselburgh today. Viva Verglas and Mick’s Yer Man are both speedy but Back Lane, who is trained by Richard
Fahey, looks to have scope for more improvement. He is unfortunate enough to be lumbered with today’s Nap! The brilliantly-named HAWDYERWHEESHT has won two on the bounce with a little in hand but is up 11lb in the feature race at the Scottish track (3.00). He may have enough improvement to reach the frame at least.

Lady Cecil looks to have found a good opportunity for MAGIC OF REALITY to complete the hat trick. She runs in a decent fillies handicap at Newmarket and can see off Great Timing at 7.50.
