Dark horses: On a roll..

fallonTHIS blog is having a good time of it. A nice winner earlier in the week (Claim The Roses) and a 20/1 juvenile winner at Kempton last night (Cornish Path) from our two-year-olds to follow list probably means I’ve used up my luck. But I’m sticking with two year olds today and here are a few who could be worth a watching brief (at the very least) today.

Haydock 2.50: Kieren Fallon spoke kindly of his ride in this race, SETAI, in his Weekender column. Brian Meehan has some lovely two year olds and although most tend to need a race, the odd one pops up first time. This Dubawi filly has been working very well.

Yarmouth 2.15: it will be no surprise if Speedfiend confirms the promise he showed on his debut. He has been heavily backed today already. But keep an eye on MAPPA MUNDI. Eve Johnson Houghton’s highly regarded colt was badly outpaced on his debut but could show marked improvement today.

Epsom 6.35: It will be a surprise if THE ALAMO fails to follow up on the promise he showed on his racecourse debut. You won’t get rich but he should win as long as he handles the contours of Epsom.

Newbury 6.50: This is a typical Newbury maiden, full of unknown quantities. Richard Hannon runs five and Mick Channon three. One of these, HEARTSTRINGS, has been showing promise at home and might be worth putting in the notebook.
