A STRONG card at Pontefract today sees the likes of Ryan Moore and Paul Hanagan in the saddle and some choicely-bred raiders from Newmarket make the trek to West Yorkshire. The 1m 2f maiden at 2.40 is of particular interest and has attracted two Derby entries and a colt entered in the 2,000 Guineas. Last year it launched the career of Libertarian, who went on to be second in the Derby. For good measure it also featured Elidor, who won at Royal Ascot. Of the two Epsom entries, preference is for ZEE ZEELY who is one of five rides for the in-form Ryan Moore (four winners yesterday).
He ran twice as a juvenile including a race full of promise when touched off at Newmarket on soft ground. Sir Michael Stoute’s Munaaser is also in the Derby and looks a big danger while Marco Botti’s Sufranel is in the Guineas and the Dante, and is another to note in the market.
Yesterday’s Daily Punt horse Cloverdale went out like a light at Redcar and was very disappointing. Somehow I don’t think it was his true running.
1pt win Zeely Zee
