Daily Double June 25

LACAN did me a good turn when winning at Chelmsford in early May. He was due to run at the Epsom Derby meeting but was pulled out at the last minute but Marco Botti (left) sends him to Newcastle today where he goes in a class 2 handicap. He is up 3lb for his victory and the useful Marc Monaghan claims 3lb. Manchestar looks dangerous if he is anywhere near his best but hopefully Lacan can do the business. The other selection is…

CLIENTO who went into many notebooks when winning a competitive handicap at Ascot in May and he reappears at Newmarket (4.55) today. He is up 8lb so it is a stiff task but that form looks solid with several winners in behind and he may have enough scope to go in again.

Another John Gosden horse who appeals today is HEROIC HEART in the 7f maiden at Newbury (7.00). She showed enough on her racecourse debut after a tardy start to suggest she could have serious ability.

And keep an eye on JAMMY GUEST in the 4.05 at Nottingham. He has always been well thought of and although he has not met expectations he has slipped down the ratings to a career low of 71.

PS Air Squadron won well yesterday for this column although Alba Dawn almost came down 3f out at Carlisle when stumbling and her race was over in a flash.

PPS I may have to rename this column Daily Dabble as I keep tipping more than two horses!!
