Daily Double August 3

TODAY’S double is actually a treble. Three horses quietly fancied. BATHOS (2.30 Nottingham) is the first. His form figures do not inspire but I’m convinced he’s better than he’s shown. He was only three lengths behind the useful Lathom at Beverley on his second run before disappointing in his next two runs. William Buick does well for Mark Johnston and I’m expecting an improved show in the nursery off a mark of 62. Next up is…

…FORGIVING GLANCE (5.00 Nottingham). He is on an upward curve and finished off his race strongly at Bath last time. Louis Steward’s claim means he is actually 2lb lower today.

The class 3 handicap at Ripon over 6f is competitive but RIGHT TOUCH (3.45 Ripon) won well at Pontefract under Jack Garritty and is fancied to defy a penalty. He is well drawn on the rail and is a course and distance winner, which is a big plus at Ripon.

Be lucky
