BLOGGING is great because you can change things at the drop of a hat. From today the Daily Double column is now the Daily Dabble. Why? I don’t want to be constrained to picking two horses. Plus, well, because I can! On to the racing, and David O’Meara seems to be the man on everybody’s lips. He has even been linked with taking over from Aidan O’Brien at Ballydoyle, although the North Yorkshire maestro denied those rumours earlier this week. O’Meara could have a decent day today.
BAHAMIAN DESERT (2.30 Musselburgh) has been in sparkling form and may just have enough improvement to win again before the handicapper grabs him. He was an easy course and distance winner last month and although 14lb higher today he should be hard to beat. O’Meara can notch a double at Catterick with MARAAKIB (3.40 Catterick). Formerly with Brian Meehan, the gelding has form on heavy ground and it looks to be fairly soft today. He ran a nice first race for O’Meara at Ayr the other day and is off an attractive mark of 75.
Elsewhere, INNOCENTLY (3.00 Musselburgh) looks another O’Meara horse with a chance. He has slipped down the ratings to 81, which was his mark the last time he won. He has each-way appeal.
Other fancies today include MIXOLOGY (2.00 Musselburgh) who could give Mark Johnston another juvenile winner; HARMONIC WAVE (2.10 Catterick) who looks progressive and has Silvestre de Sousa in the saddle and CLOUD SEVEN (8.25 Kempton) who likes the all-weather.
