CHESHAM STAKES: Probably the poorest race of the five days: it resembles a decent maiden. Ballydoyle has been well backed but is no value so a sporting each-way bet is DESSERTOFLIFE. Mark Johnston’s juveniles are in tip-top form and this grey filly looks overpriced at 16/1.
Selection: DESSERTOFLIFE
WOLFERTON HANDICAP: Mahsoob will be all the rage and rightly so after his amazing win at York. But I’m hoping the forecast rain comes for COLLABORATION. He has won three on the bounce and can go in again if the ground eases. Sennockian Star is each-way value.
Selection: COLLABORATION
KING EDWARD VII STAKES: TELESCOPE can follow up last year’s victory if the rain stays away. The lightly-raced Eagle Top is a fascinating rival while Postponed is also in the mix.
Selection: TELESCOPE
DIAMOND JUBILEE STAKES: A wide open affair with Aussie raider Brazen Beau strongly fancied to take the prize back Down Under. DUE DILIGENCE was second last year and can go one better with trainer and jockey in wonderful form.
Selection: DUE DILIGENCE
WOKINGHAM HANDICAP: Tatlisu will be popular in this cavalry charge. But LOUIS THE PIOUS is deadly on his day as he showed when scoring at this meeting last year over 7f before running away with the Ayr Gold Cup off a mark of 104. He is on 109 today and Ascot’s stiff 6f and fast ground look perfect. Louis The Pious ran nicely last time at York under a quiet ride and it looked like the perfect warm-up for this.
Selection: LOUIS THE PIOUS
QUEEN ALEXANDRA STAKES: A WICKLOW BRAVE victory would be a fitting finale for what’s been a momentous week for Ryan Moore. Any rain would help his chance even more and he looks banker material.
Selection: WICKLOW BRAVE
Hi again Jason,
Looking at the time that I posted my original comment, I wouldn’t believe anyone who thinks that I must have known the result prior to posting. Not true.
Because I don’t bet (or very rarely)I always tape the racing then watch it later on. This way I miss all the adverts and the inane “what does it feel like” interviews after the race.
I actually watched the Chesham at 3.30, and I must admit it did give me a bit of a grin. I promise that this is ma true story!
I also think that Provenance ran a great race in the second heat, making up a lot of ground in the straight. A big race awaits her methinks.
In the Hardwicke Snow Sky looked brilliant, and must go for the King George. Unfortunately Telescope is a bit of an enigma, in that you never know which way he will run. Possibly best forgotten in Group 1 races. Nevertheless the race saw a welcome change of fortune for Sir Michael Stoute. Well done to him.
My clock actually says 4.25 now, and I haven’t seen the big sprint yet. Going to watch it now.
Cheers!
Hi again
Just in case he has won I didn’t know the result when I tipped Suits You.
Cheers
Hi Jason,
I have a fancy for Suits You in the first to beat Ballydoyle .
Other ew possibles are Provenance, Astaire, and Green Door.
I agree with Telescope and Wicklow Brave.
Best of luck.
Cheers!
