Daily Double July 1

I’M off to Thirsk today with the aim of not melting in the 30C heat. The ground will be fast and hopefully racecourses will be liberal with their watering to ensure safe ground. I’ll be disappointed if the first race of the day (2.00) at the North Yorkshire track is not won by…

MECCA’S MISSUS. Michael Dods’ filly has two solid runs in the bag and is drawn high so should be able to bag the stands rail. Back To Bond is the danger.

And our old chum REX IMPERATOR also goes at Thirsk (4.30). It’s last chance saloon for the old boy as David O’Meara continues to look for a way of reviving his undoubted ability. He pulled too hard at York last time and I just wonder if different tactics might be used today.

Be lucky!
