SNUKER could pot punters a few quid at Carlisle today. A thorough stayer and mudlark, he has slipped to a chase rating of 91 and with the capable Kit Alexander taking off another 3lb he’ll be racing off 88. His last two runs were off 101.

He has won twice at Carlisle and course form on the “rollercoaster” track can be a huge plus. The only question mark is whether he’ll be fit enough to win at the first time of asking, although he does have a decent record first time out.

There are a couple of very promising horses who should win at short prices. ON TOUR (1.50 Carlisle) looks a serious tool and can take care of Sirabad, while ONEFITZALL (1.00 Leicester) cruised home at Uttoxeter and can follow up under a penalty.

Better value will be the 11-year-old ARALDUR (2.00 Leicester) who showed at Bangor last time that he retains plenty of ability.

Nick Alexander thinks a bit of LAKE VIEW LAD (2.20 Carlisle) and he should take plenty of beating  while MINI MUCK (3.30) ran well at Warwick last time and looks a likely type to take the finale at Leicester.
